Brie's Cowl

Another of my knitting patterns was recently published. Brie's Cowl is one of the knitting patterns in the latest Knitpicks book named Yarn Over. The entire collection is all about variety of brioche knitting techniques.
I have worked my sample in Preciosa Tonal Worsted Ballet colorway. The color reminds me of my pink Lillie of the valley. The flowers were blooming at the time I was working on the sample and the pattern. The actual sample in the book collection was knit in another beautiful colorway named Summer Sky.

I have made another sample of Brie's Cowl in soft cotton yarn Snuggle Puff by Knitpicks and these two cowls were the perfect gifts for my friends.
I used my Small Heart Cozy to wrap the cowls before giving them away.

Work in Progress III and Gift-a-long 2019

This blog post should have been written out few weeks ago.

I should have posted about the beginning of Seventh Gift-a-long at the end of November. Before the official beginning of the wonderful collaboration of independent designers and all the activities that are happening in the group Indie Design Gift-a-long on Ravelry.

I was also planning to participate actively by knitting things from other designers' patterns. I have quite a few that I wanted to make. 

However injured elbow changed my plans. Things are much slower over here. Everything takes longer and knitting is in time out for next few weeks. Even sitting by computer is painful after a while, so I have limited working on the computer and social media as well. 

I will be posting another "Interview with a designer" blog post sometime this week.

In the meantime I am trying to catch up on publishing some of my knitting patterns, and republishing few for which the rights have returned to me. 

These adorable snowman bottle cozy were published last year in 'I Like Knitting" December Issue. Now they are available in my store on Ravelry and on Lovecraft website.

Food KAL

In the past few weeks I was busy picking up fruits and vegetables from our garden and preserve them for the winter. Even though our plum trees produced only two plums, we are having some yellow raspberries and alpine strawberries to snack on and we still are having an abundance of cucumbers. I have been pickling them at least twice a week.
Our friends and family might be receiving homemade pickles as their Christmas presents.

I cannot really share the recipe for my pickling liquid as it seems to be every time slightly different. I am following the recipe my mom gave me when we started to do our own pickling.
She said: "I use water, vinegar, pickling salt, a bit of sugar, spices (All Spice, Black Peppercorn, Bay Leaves, Cinnamon, Clove), try how it tastes and add what you think is needed. In the jar put some mustard seeds, fresh dill, sliced onions, garlic, peppers, carrots and cucumbers. Fill the jars with liquid close the top and boil in a pot with a kitchen towel on the bottom for about twenty minutes."
We have been using her recipe for some time, experimenting with variety of flavors, adding hot peppers to some jars, etc. Each batch that I make tastes slightly different, and that is what I enjoy about it - the unpredictability of what it will taste like when we open a new jar of our pickles.

I was also thinking about the next KAL for my group on Ravelry. I decided that we should knit anything that is food related. Aprons, dishcloths, knitted food, knitted parts of a food chain...…
