Toys for Library

Toys for Library
Once again, our local library have the summer reading program for children. The program encourages them to read. The volunteers record the time and books the children read, and for their time and participation the children receive raffle tickets. Each week there are plenty of prices to choose from.

I think that this year is my fourth or fifth year that I have donated several of my knitted toys towards the weekly prices. Each week one of my knitted toy find a new home. I see the amount of tickets in the container in front of my knitted toy each week, and I must admit it is rather enjoyable feeling to see how many children are interested in winning those handmade toys. Whenever we visit the library to pick our books, the librarians tell me all about how much joy and smiles the children had when they came to pick up their new toy.

For me personally, this is what knitting is about. The joy and happiness a handmade gift can bring.

Knittin Pattern for Petal, the Flying Pig

Petal, the Flying Pig was my January mystery toy KAL in my group on Ravelry.
I was inspired by pink colors and the words "when the pig will fly" and "pig in a blanket". While this Mystery KAL is over, I am working on the next Mystery KAL toy. Those who like Mystery KAL have a new one coming soon in my group, and those who like Petal, can purchase the pattern by clicking on this button

or in my store in Ravelry.

Knitting Patterns for Baby Lovies

Baby Lovies
It started with the purchase of a soft pink yarn. I turned the yarn into the Piggy Blanket. Then I wanted to make more, in different colors, and with different faces.
For each of the blanket you will need about 3oz (85gr) of medium weight yarn, and use about 165 – 180 yards (150 – 165 meters).
To purchase the e-book with all of the four knitting patterns click on this button:

Or you may purchase the patterns individually:

Piggie, baby blanket

Piggie, baby blanket
Not too long ago, I went to a yarn store and picked two skeins of yarn. The first one soft green turned into Fred, the frog , and the second soft pink turned into this Piggie baby blanket or lovie.

The knitting pattern for this sweet piggy blanket is at the testing stage and once it's completed the pattern will be available.

The same yarn shopping trip I also picked two other skeins of yarn.  I keep looking at them and wonder what will become of them. I guess that's what makes the whole process so interesting, at least for me personally. The ability to pick up a skein of yarn, look at the color, texture, and then turning that skein of yarn into something else.

Donation to our library

This is my third year that I donated knitted toys to our library for summer reading raffle. Children read, and for ever fifteen minutes they read they earn one raffle ticket. There are various prices on display each week during the summer reading program. Children can place their raffle tickets to a box next to the price and the winners are announced each week.

I wonder, which avid reader will win these knitted toys.

New Adventure

It probably took me few years of going back and forth in my mind. But finally, I made that leap of faith and jumped.
I have opened my Etsy store

Stana's Critters etc.

It's a work in progress. I am not sure what will happen next, but it sure will benefit everyone.
I will design more knitted patterns, the toys will hopefully find new home and I hope to have happy customers. In the process I might make some money to buy more yarn, which I would use to make more toys for the charity purposes.

Three little pigs...

These pigs are my newest little critters.

On this picture you can see the process of creating the perfect knitted little pig.

First I made the big naked pig. Second I made the pig in PJ. Third, the smallest pig turned out to be the perfect one.

The knitted toys are avaliable upon request.
The knitting pattern will be available soon.
