I have few ongoing projects that I work on at the moment.

One of them is my Book Project.
After I received the enormous box of yarn from Cascade Yarn company  I had to basically start over again, because all of the patterns will be knitted with their yarn. I am looking for the right publisher and I hope to find one. But in case that will not happen I will make the entire collection as an e-book and individual patterns as well. I am hoping to have it all done later this year.

Another project that I work on at the moment is looking for a publisher for my story Monster Al and his Friends. My thesis advisor made me promise to do that and submit my story. It is disheartening to look for a children's book publisher that would be willing to take on board an unknown author. Second option that is suggested by many - go and find a literary agent seems to be as difficult as the first scenario. I would like to remain optimistic and believe that there is a good end to this journey.

My first story about Monster Al (which I posted on my blog about a year ago) has find quite a few readers.

Maybe that is the way to do it.

My latest knitting pattern for the newest knitted toy, Jelly the dachshund.

Finished toy size:  approximately 15" (38cm) including tail.
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy Worsted 100% Superwash Merino Wool  250yards per 4oz.
1 skein in Tea Party # 04
You will use about 160 – 170 yards.  About 15 yards of yarn for the collar. Small amount of black yarn for the eyes, nose, and mouth.

I have purchased two skeins of yarn to knit up my owl for the contest and in this picture you can see that I was able to knit two Miranda the owl as well as the Owlie Tablet and Phone cover, and I still have some yarn left.

Knitting Pattern for Charlie, the Fish

The other day we went fishing and caught Charlie, the fish.


Charlie, the fish is knitted in the round, starting at the mouth and ending at the tail. The fins are added by picking up stitches directly on the body or knitted separately and sewn on. The pattern has both: written and chart instructions for the stranded colorwork done in the round..
Finished toy size: approximately 11.5” (29cm) long.
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy Worsted 100% Superwash Merino Wool
250yards per 4oz.
1 skein in Strange Harvest
1 skein in Black Parade
Total yardage per one fish: 50 – 60 yards (45 – 55meters) of Strange Harvest (MC) and 20 - 25 yards (18 – 23meters) of Black Parade (CC). Small amount of golden yellow and black yarn for the eyes.

Owlie Tablet and Phone Cover

One of the groups on Ravelry that I belong to has a contest. We have to create a knitted or crochet owl toy and take an interesting or funny picture of our finished project. This is not the picture I took for the contest, but the theme inspired me to create this cute Owlie tablet and phone cover.

After the pattern is test knitted I will make it available for everyone. The dilemma I have at the moment is should it be a free or paid for knitting pattern? I am inclining to make it free, but then I think about the time it took to knit the samples, write the pattern, and all other expenses involved in producing a good knitting pattern. It is very difficult decision. I value my time and work, yet I know that sometimes it is hard to justify the charge, when free patterns are just a few clicks away.

Swirly Hat

Swirly Hat

This swirly hat is one of the latest projects that kept me busy. The samples are done, the pattern is written, and is test knitted at the moment. Now, all that is left is a photo shoot, and the final editing.
Sometimes it seems to me unbelievable how much work goes into creating a single pattern.
