Needle Felting Class

Class set up
Every once in a while I like to create small critters using the needle felting technique. Once in a while our local library offers the needle felting class. The regular instructor couldn't make it and I was asked if I could teach the class.

I think the people who came enjoyed it, and in less than two hours they created needle felted pumpkin and few acorns.

Grande Gatto can be a pillow, or giant stuff soft toy, or door holder, or even just a cool decoration.
The finished Grande Gatto is approximately 15" / 38 cm tall and you will need  3 skeins of Knitpicks Super Tuff Puff yarn (each skein has 44 yards per 200 grams).

Work in progress

Grande Gatto and Kittie Pillow
This week was all about cats. I have received parcel with yarn from Knitpicks to work on my new patterns that have been accepted into their fabulous IDP (independent designer program). I have several knitting patterns in the program already and I really enjoy to participate in this program. It gives me an access to various type of their yarn and in return my patterns are available on their website.

The left Kittie Pillow is done in their worsted weight yarn, Mighty Stitch. It's a nice  and soft mix of 80% Superwash Wool and 20% Acrylic yarn. Easy to work with.
The right Grande Gatto Pillow is done in their new yarn Super Tuff Puff. Even though the yarn called for needle size US 17/ 12.75 mm I have used the size US 13 / 9 mm to make the pillow more dense and to make sure that the polyester fiberfill stays inside.

In my opinion, the fun part is done, now it's all about the work - sitting in front of PC and type up the pattern, editing, and also have the pattern test knit. All of this will take few weeks, and then the pattern will be available; just in time to knit the pillows for yourself or as a gift for the cat lover in your life.

Thank you for visiting.

Knitting Pattern for Pat and Mat

Pat and Mat
The knitted toys for Pat and Mat were inspired by the Czech animated show named Pat and Mat. Two handy men doing all sorts of do it yourself project with some unfortunate accidents and unexpected results. We love to watch them and after so many years I finally start working on the two toys just before last Christmas, thinking that they would be a great Christmas gift. Nine months later I finally finished the two dolls. After the time it takes to write the pattern, edit it, and have it test knit the pattern is available now.

Work in progress

Flynn
Somehow the past few months have been rather quiet in terms of keeping up with once a week blog post. I have to admit, having a group on Ravelry keeps me busy, as well as the page on Facebook. I do not remember when I visited the last time the other social media (Twitter, Pinterest, Craftsy etc.) In my opinion it's way too much work trying to update all of the social media outlets while trying to keep on knitting and writing the knitting patterns as well.

My kid kindly shared the flu and I have been home sick for the past eight days. I had some time on my hands to play with yarn and catch up on things.
First of all I managed to work on my second Flynn. He is this month toy mystery KAL hosted in my group on Ravelry.

This is what he looked like two days ago:

And this is what he looks like today, sitting in the company of the first Flynn :

Flynn
Also I am participating in first design-a-long organized in Amigurumi designers group on Ravelry. We have to design a bird during the month of October. I was browsing the images of  rare and exotic birds, but the chicken soup somehow made me think of chicken. So Hilda was created:

The pattern is at the test knitting and editing stage, but will be available later next month.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting.
